To be honest, volcanoes possibly have the greatest potential for disaster films. The way they work makes for great film material. I find Dante’s Peak to be one of the best disaster films out there since it’s not over-the-top AND is based (loosely) on a real event (the 1980 Mt. St. Helens eruption).
Dante's Peak should have made the list imo. That movie was great at building tension and making me feel nervous.

Not even an honorable mention of Dante's Peak? That's a good movie and was inspired Mt Stain Helens eruption in 1980. Fun fact: Some segments of the movie where filmed there too
8:00 the "we got cows," is not the most memorable line from Twister. It's actually when they are describing the various T levels of tornados, from t1 to t4, when Jamie Gertz asks if there was a T5 – which prompts a simultaneous silverware drop & silence and then someone says, "The finger of God."
